Turkey Vultures


Our bird of the day: Turkey Vultures!

These are one BIG bird. Weighing up to five pounds (that's a lot, considering they can float around on thermal currents all day!) they are one of the largest bird of prey in this country. Their wingspan alone is nearly six feet! A keen sense of smell allows them to easily find carrion, such as the one in the below photograph has done.
